Jim Dunlop Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings provide rich, warm tones that resonate with fullness and depth. Custom wound onto a high carbon steel hex core, they offer players incredible clarity and dynamics. Our formula creates strings that are exceptionally long-lived; they break in fast and stay bright so you can spend more time playing and less time changing your strings. Whether you're finger picking or strumming, your bass notes will remain focused, chords will ring out, and harmonics will pop and sing.
Light Gauge: 12, 16, 24, 32, 42, 54
Extra Light, Custom Light, Light or Medium?
This is a very common question. Most modern acoustic steel string guitars come out of the factory with the standard light guage 12-53. If your guitar hasn't had a string change since new and your happy with the way the guitar plays, keep them at 12-53. If the strings feel a little hard to play or the guitar is a little older, consider looking at a custom light or extra light. However, if the strings are low to the fingerboard this is not recommended as a lighter string gauge also puts less tension on the neck and will lower the strings further. This may require setup work and neck adjustment to resolve. Most players choosing a medium (or heavier) string are either tuning their strings down a step or have their guitar action set for a heavier gauge. Typically the strings sound warmer the heavier they are, but if you are uncertain choose the string gauge that makes it most comfortable for you. We offer complete setup and restoration solutions for your guitar in store.
