Description
The Reveal 5A active near field monitor builds upon the success and recording
industry reputation of the famous original Tannoy Reveal Active. When launched
in the mid nineties, the Reveal Active was widely recognised as the product
that defined the category and has been the active monitor of choice for
thousands of amateur and professional recording, creative composition and
postproduction facilities worldwide.
Whether you're building a studio on a budget, or you just need an active
monitor with a small footprint, the Reveal 5A is your choice. Built to the same
high standard as the rest of the Reveal line, the R5A packs performance,
accuracy and value into a compact enclosure that's ready to share the desktop
with the rest of your gear. Priced right for the beginner, the R5A delivers
WideBand™ performance that will impress even the most seasoned pro.
From the front: The 40mm MDF baffle is stiff, heavy and rigid,
with the drive units are recessed flush to the sculpted surface to minimise
diffraction, while 10 countersunk fixing screws maximise contact between drive
unit and baffle. Bass unit development using Klippell™ analysis equipment has
minimised offsets and linearised the suspension components.
The wide bandwidth tweeter extends the amplitude response beyond the 20kHz
audibility threshold to 30kHz to correct the phase response from 8kHz to 14kHz
within the audible band. This preserves the harmonic structure of sounds and
the stability of the stereo image The smooth tweeter faceplate contours prevent
diffraction and cavity effects.
An On/Mute (energy saving mode) switch is activated by pressing the Tannoy logo
and an LED indicator displays the Active/Energy Saving modes. A front mounted
volume control is provided for convenient Home Studio and PC/MAC laptop/desktop
use.
From the sides: The 18mm MDF cabinet construction provides
stiffness and minimises colouration, while internal bracing of the sides and
rear against the back of the bass driver provides a rigid reactive mass for the
moving cone assembly; this ensures fast tight bass response and clear midrange.
The front baffle and rear panel are tongued and grooved into the cabinet as a
mechanical interlock for safety if wall mounted.
From the rear: The amplifier module is double insulated to
prevent ground loops, no safety earth required, and CSA/CE/CCC/CB full safety
approvals, including China, have been secured. There is a spare fuse in IEC
mains connector as well as an On/Off mains isolator switch, substantial heat
sinking for long term cool running and 24/7 reliability and an XLR and ¼" jack
Combi connector for balanced input.
